Swedish company ‘brothers’ have released the ‘Wall of Sound‘ and it looks like it could be the biggest ipod speakers ever to be produced. The 125 Watt, tube amplified, 28-element speaker measures in at about 3 ft x 4 ft. The speaker peaks at about 95db, enough to send any neighbour into hysterics. Oh and it weighs in at just under 100kgs. Cost? $4495 USD.

After digitally remastering and re-releasing all of The Beatles back catalog in September, EMI and Apple have announced that they will be creating limited edition Beatles USB apples, these will hold 14 beatles albums in FLAC 44.1 Khz 24 bit and MP3 320 Kbps formats. Limited to 30′000 with a release date of December 7th.

LaCie have teamed up with french designer Philippe Starck on their latest line of external hard drives. The 2mm of aluminum casing prevents the LaCie Starck from overheating while being tough enough to take knocks on the go. A 1TB desktop version has also been released in the Starck collection.

HBO have a history of churning out quality tv shows like there’s no tomorrow. ‘Sopranos’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Deadwood’, ‘The Wire’, ‘Six Feet Under’, ‘Sex’ and the City’, ‘Flight of the Conchords’, and ‘Hung’ to name a few. They even have a knack of sucking you into their 20min shows where you know you clearly have no business being addicted to the show but watch it religiously, case in point ‘entourage’. Piloted in late September writer Jonathan Ames created the series ‘Bored to Death’ which is based around a struggling writer who decides to work as a private detective part time. Jason Schwartzman plays the lead in this comic-noir along with Zach Galifianakis as his best friend, Ted Danson and Olivia Thirlby also star in the show. After watching the first episode I think I’m hooked. It’s HBO, that’s all you need to know!

For all the sneakerheads out there, here’s another collaboration to feast your eyes one. This time it’s french fashion house A.P.C. with sneaker giants Nike.

For the most part there’s only a few jobs that come close to the excitement of shooting a feature film (IMO), and one of those includes being commissioned to shoot stills for a feature film. UK photographer Dean Rogers has steadily been adding features such as ‘Control’, ‘This is England’, and ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’ to his impressive resume of commissioned work. As Julian Casablancas readies his debut solo album ‘Phrazes for the Young’ which is about to drop end of October, details have surfaced about the release of a special box set due out on the 18th December.

The boxset is to include:

• A 48-page classically bound storybook containing original and exclusive artwork, full album lyrics, B-Side lyrics, “phrazes” and photographs – each book will be personally signed by Julian Casablancas.
• A DVD containing filmed solo acoustic performances by Julian, an interview, the album trailer and the “11th Dimension” music video.
• 2 CDs: CD 1 will contain the full-length album and CD 2 will contain five song demos from the album and three B-Sides (demos only available in the Luxury Edition).
• A 180 gram vinyl LP of the album.
• A double-sided (24″ x 36″) poster.

• The Luxury Edition is housed in a beautiful custom designed antique-style box.

Long before Arj Barker started appearing in ‘Flight of the Conchords’ his name had been branded around Sydney as the comedian to watch. He’s not Australian, but he’s been touring here extensively for quite a few years now and has built up quite a healthy reputation. So I finally got the chance to see him on thursday night at the state theatre. Overall it was a quality gig but there was one segment where he was talking about the VHS video that not only caught me in stitches but also saw a healthy dose of the laughter tear dripping down.

Based around the New York art scene, ‘Untitled’ looks at a two brothers hoping to break through in opposing directions, one being a music composer that creates anything but commercial work while the other being a very commercially successful artist desperate to gain recognition from the art world. Directed by Jonathan Parker and starring ‘Adam Goldberg’, I think I’m going to like this film, although I have a feeling the trailer won’t be doing this film any justice.
